Chermside Real Estate
Located just north of Brisbane, Chermside is both a practical and beautiful place to live. Conveniently close to schools, hospitals, the CBD and Brisbane Airport, Chermside is perfect for young families buying their first home.
Originally named Downfall Creek, Chermside was renamed in 1903 to honour the Queensland Governor of the time, Sir Herbert Chermside. The scenic suburb features many parks also named after local historical figures, including William Kidston (former Premier of Queensland) and F.W. Bradbury (an early Alderman of the Brisbane City Council). Several historical churches remain in the area, the most long-standing being the United Free Methodist Church, established in 1873.
In addition to its rich heritage, Chermside has also consistently been a hub of progress. Chermside’s commercial district has been home to Australia’s first drive-in shopping centre, Brisbane’s first Apple Store, and Australia’s largest single-level shopping centre.
Demographically, Chermside has vibrant and diverse community. The population’s median age is 35, 2 years younger than the national average, with 59.5% born in Australia compared to the national average of 69.8%.

Thanks to rising sales activity, Chermside is among Brisbane’s best places to buy investment properties. This is reflected in data showing that over half of Chermside’s population rent out their property as an investment, rather than live in it themselves.
Chermside real estate comes in all styles, reflecting the area’s diverse background and population. Modern, eclectic houses and apartments are on the rise as developers take advantage of the boom. However, many Chermside houses for sale display a more classic Queenslander-like style, favouring fresh white paneling over steel, stone and plaster.
